Med Access Inc. has developed a leading edge, web-based Electronic Medical Record system, with built-in security technology that provides tomorrow's technology today, linking patients, physicians, hospitals, healthcare service providers and health regions. Never before has all pertinent patient information been available so quickly and seamlessly to healthcare providers around the world, directly at the point of care.

In addition to our core strategy, we are committed to furthering the development of Health Informatics for Primary Care Physicians, Specialists, Hospitals and Health Regions. We are always assessing opportunities with Healthcare bodies and entities interested in leveraging our expertise and knowledge.

Company Structure
Med Access is privately held company with a wide and diverse shareholder base. We are headquartered in Kelowna, British Columbia with offices in Calgary and Winnipeg.
Market Position
Med Access has created an enviable market position for itself since initially conceived in 1998. Up-take of the initial version of our Electronic Medical Records system was swift. We enjoyed many successes deploying the software across British Columbia and Alberta. Part of our success is owed to the adaptability and flexibility of the Med Access EMR that allowed physicians to integrate existing billing software into the EMR.
We are proud of key installations at the Royal Alexandra Hospital’s department of Family Medicine in Edmonton, Alberta and the University of Calgary’s Family Medical Clinics.
We have made acquisitions to gain market share, customers and key staff competencies. Today Med Access is on the cusp of deploying the latest generation of our EMR: version 3.2.
Our Management Team
Paul Walker - President and Chief Executive Officer
Paul Walker is the Chief Executive Officer for Med Access and assumed his role in 2002 upon co-founding the company. Paul enjoys a legacy of success and achievement with career milestones at Canadian Tire Corporation, Sun Rype Foods and Laidlaw Waste Management.
Paul has an MBA from the University of Toronto.
Scott MacFarlane - Chief Technology Officer
Scott MacFarlane is the Chief Technology Officer for Med Access and a founding partner. Scott has a 15 year track record of leading software engineering teams in industries spanning Telecommunications, Defense, Robotics, and Healthcare.
Scott is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
Randy Gaebel - VP, Operations
Randy Gaebel is the VP Service Delivery and Design for Med Access and a founding partner. Randy’s extensive knowledge and expertise in the area of Clinical Management Systems spans nearly 25 years.
Randy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with Honours from the University of Western Ontario.
Liz Evens - Director, Practice Management
Liz Evens is the Director, Client Services for Med Access and is responsible for customer experience and support services that we provide. Liz leads the Support team by setting the strategic direction for customer service, processes, and all customer support. Liz has over 10 years of customer service and call center experience that help to shape the experience our customers receive on a day to day basis, including many customer service awards and milestones while working for WestJet Airlines.
Ric Simpson - Controller
As Controller for the company Ric has responsibility for the day-to-day financial requirements and reporting for the company and its subsidiaries. He also handles current shareholder information requests. Ric has a joined Med Access in 2007 and his extensive background of financial leadership and fiscal management has proven to be an important asset for our company. Ric has a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
Linda Dower - Manager, Implementation and Training
Linda is responsible for ensuring the success of all Med Access Users. She leads the Implementation Team in developing training protocols, adapting training content specific to a clinic’s workflow and customizing the flexible software product to meet the customer’s needs. Her 20 years in Healthcare as a Medical Lab Technologist and her 10 years of experience in Workflow Analysis and Redesign converge to make the adoption of new technology in your clinic smoother and faster. Linda will help you transform your clinic without turning it upside down.
Karen Hansen - Director, Customer Care
Karen has an extensive background in the design, documentation and execution of software systems in the health care sector. She is directly responsible for the management of our customer service team. With her leadership, they are empowered to define, deliver and measure world class support to our client base across Western Canada.
Steven Bergg - VP, Sales and Marketing
Since his arrival in Canada 15 years ago Steven has been immersed in the high-tech sector. He has a track record of outstanding customer satisfaction and sales growth in the organizations he has led. His experience in the previously emerging technologies of GPS and process control and automation engineering software is invaluable in helping the medical professionals we serve.
