Med Access leading the way in all four Western Provinces! - January 14, 2009
During 2007/2008 the 4 Western Canadian provinces were active in selecting long-term EMR solutions for Physicians:
• BC selected & completed final conformance test approvals with 5 Vendors
• Alberta released their Provincial EMR RFP with the most rigorous requirements to date & selected 3 Vendors
• Saskatchewan issued an RFP for 4 Provincial EMR solutions and a Single Vendor / Partner for their Primary Health Care initiative which will have over 600 users
• Manitoba conducted an RFP to select 4 Provincial EMR solutions
We are proud to announce that Med Access is the only EMR vendor moving forward in every one of these 5 Provincial initiatives. Success’ to date include:
• British Columbia: 1st Vendor to be fully conformed. Achieved “Approved Status” 8 months ahead of any other Vendor.
• Alberta: Contracted & 1st Vendor underway in completing the Conformance Test.
• Saskatchewan: Candidate Selected Vendor in both procurements subject to executing Agreements & completing Testing
• Manitoba: Candidate Selected Vendor subject to executing Agreement & completing Conformance Test

UPDATE ON PITO FUNDING PROGRAM FOR EMR. - July 31, 2008
The First BC PITO funded community of Practice is under way: With Clinics now running Med Access EMR live the first PITO community of practice is officially operational. Specialists and GP’s will share exchange data using the exclusive on-line referral solution provided by Med Access. This allows the users to share information discreetly without the excessive data input required when using other products. The First BC PITO Pilot Site Is Live: In May 2008 Med Access took the first PITO pilot site live. This was a group of Doctors including both specialist and GP’s. Last week Med Access enabled several more specialties in the area.

Med Access has been selected as one of three short-listed vendors in Alberta
On July 25th 2008 Alberta health and wellness announced the three vendors that had qualified for the short list in their RFP process based on capacity and capability. The following is an extract from the news release:
“...In the second evaluation phase, each of the short-listed vendors will undergo a validation process before being tested for usability where each of the short-listed products will be assessed and scored through demonstrations and hands-on evaluation. This process will be followed by rigorous conformance testing after which the successful candidate(s) will be selected.“
The selection of the successful vendors has been supported by multi-stakeholder evaluation panels with representatives from Alberta Health and Wellness, the Alberta Medical Association and industry experts, and supported by POSP…
At this time we recommend that our current clients and any other interested parties allow time for the evaluation process to move through to completion. Please be assured the staff of Med Access will work diligently to complete the process and prepare for conformance.
Currently in British Columbia 80% of all Doctors that take the time to evaluate Med Access choose our EMR. Substantial numbers of Doctors in BC are realizing that Med Access have made EMR technology viable, efficient and user friendly to the point where mass adoption of the technology is warranted. In anticipation of a similar uptake in Alberta Med Access is currently preparing to execute our province wide roll-out strategy.
Med Access - First Vendor to achieve compliance in British Columbia – March 27, 2008
Today, Paul Walker President and CEO announced that Med Access has become the first company to pass all P.I.T.O. conformance testing that is required for doctors to be eligible for PITO funding.
“This is an important milestone for our company and another example of our ability to respond quickly to market needs. The real winners today are the Doctors of BC who can now get started on the EMR implementation with the assurances provided by PITO funding and an EMR solution that has been rigorously evaluated for functionality, security, patient privacy, technical infrastructure, implementation services, ongoing support, integration with other health data and company stability.” Stated Walker from the company’s Kelowna Head office.
Over the past few months, separate tests have been conducted for software usability and conformance to core requirements. The conformance testing was based on 234 test steps, some encompassing numerous sub-steps and supporting documentation. Reviewers included physicians, clinical office staff, IT specialists and Ministry representatives. Ministry representatives visited our ASP hosting facility and our Support Centre to verify that all standards were met or exceeded. The testing was very thorough.
“This is great news for our current clients and those Doctors approved for funding this week. Being the first to achieve PITO conformance demonstrates that our core product meets the highest expectations in the country. In reality, we had very little preparation to do because the PITO requirements closely matched the customer requirements that had already shaped our product. Being ahead of the game, we’ve been able to work on other leading-edge features that allow increased collaboration and less re-work between physicians. This has been the exciting part and I believe that doctors will be very pleased with what we can offer over-and-above the PITO requirements.” Remarked Scott Macfarlane, Chief Technology Officer.
Recently, Med Access was selected by the largest community EMR in BC. After an exhaustive evaluation process the team of Specialists and GP’s were unanimous in their opinion that Med Access has the most comprehensive and user friendly functionality for the wide range of Doctors in their group of 120. They were very impressed by the Med Access capability to share patient information throughout the region. Some clinics are already live and we’ve been proceeding with PITO through pilot implementations. Randy Gaebel, VP of Operations predicted the increased demand for the EMR product some time ago and has built the infrastructure to ensure we can meet the demand and maintain a “personal touch for all new users.”

Winter, 2007 Newsletter - EMR Version 3.2 Ready for January Release
Currently beta testing at four sites in Western Canada, version 3.2 will be released in January of 2008.

December 11th 2007 - Med Access Signs PITO Agreement
Med Access is pleased to announce they have executed the agreement with the BC Ministry of Health that will soon permit Physicians in British Columbia to select the Med Access EMR for their practice and qualify for Provincial funding. The company is planning to complete a Conformance Test early in 2008 that is the required final step.

July, 2007 - Success in BC’s Physician Information Technology Office’s process to provide Electronic Medical Records!
Med Access is pleased to announce that we were selected as a Successful Proponent in the current process of the Physician Information Technology Office’s (PITO’s) provision of Electronic Medical Records to the physicians of BC. We are working rapidly with PITO to complete the final steps that are required to permit us to commence marketing & implementations under the new program.

July 30, 2007- One of five Vendor Conformance & Usability Requirements approved vendors for AB physicians!
Over the last few months, there have been increased requirements for provincially-funded EMRs resulting in the list of eligible vendors being shortened this week to just five.
